Barrel and Caliber swap is not that uncommon in the Gunsmithing world. A few of the variables must be identical such as bolt face ( is both calibers where the primer of the ammo goes in the same outside diameter) short action or long action, will the new cartridge fit into the magazine, If the answer to these factors are yes or the same then you can take Grandpas shot out 30-06 barrel and swap it out for a more forgiving caliber such as the 270.
Once we receive your barrel from either you or a vender of you choice, Our machinist will center your barrel in the lathe and then cut the threads needed to make up your new barrel up to your action. Once this is achieved and the barrel is made up flush with recoil lug or action with no space or gap is found using feeler gauges then he moves on the chambering of the barrel to the specified caliber.
